VMIC’s VMIVME-7740 is a computer based on the Pentium III processor with the added benefit of single Eurocard architecture as well as version C.1 of the VMEbus specification. The VMIVME-7740, with its advanced VMEbus interface as well as dual-port to VMEbus RAM, is ideal for multiprocessor applications. A single CPU board acts as a standard PC/AT, performs a PC/AT type boot self-test, and then boots MS-DOS, Windows 95, Windows NT, or any other PC-compatible operating system. The VMIVME-7740’s standard PC feature pack VMIVME-7740 also operates as a VMEbus controller, and with other VMEbus modules the VMIVME-7740 can be accessed as a VMEbus slave board via the onboard PCI to VMEbus bridge and Endian conversion hardware. VME Bus functionality This volume can be obtained by programming the VMIVME-7740’s PCI to VMEbus bridge and/or on the optional PCI to VMEbus interface board, entitled: VMIVME-7740 Tundra Universe™- Based on VMEbus Interface Product Manual (file No. 500-007740-001). The VMIVME-7740 programmer can quickly and easily control all VME buses by simply linking to the VMEbus interrupt and control function library. This library can be used with VMIC’s VMISFT-9420 IOWorks Access software for
Windows NT users. The VMIVME-7740 also offers more than typical PC/ AT-compatible SBCS, including universal timers, programmable watchdog timers, a bootable flash disk system, and non-volatile SRAM. These features make the unit ideal for embedded applications.
