Compared to many web-based multi-axis solutions, this solution provides superior performance while reducing footprint and cost. The MC4U is optimized for machine automation and includes motion controllers, drivers, power supplies and high-speed PLCS in 9 “, 11 “and 19” units. The MC4U can directly drive up to eight highly coordinated axes, with the network expansion capability of 64 additional network nodes for a total of up to 72 axes. The integrated universal amplifier can directly drive any stepper motor (open loop or sinusoidal commutated closed-loop servo), DC brushless motor, DC brushed motor, or AC induction motor (sinusoidal commutated closed-loop servo) in the power range of 100W to 5kW with standard digital quadrature or analog sine/cosine encoders.

The MC4U’s integrated architecture utilizes a dedicated servo processor on the controller board to provide real-time servo control of each axis, including position, speed, current servo loops, and sinusoidal commutation. The Dedicated Motion Programming Language (ACSPL+) running on the MC4U controller provides users with a simple motion programming environment. Some of the standard motions available include third-order vector point-to-point movement (one to eight axes), 2D and 3D geometries, electronic multi-axis CAM systems, non-Cartesian kinematic structures (hexapods, trigonometric robots, SCARA robots), complex eight-dimensional paths and splines, multi-axis master/slave, and so on. In addition, the standard package features a full motion controller emulator, allowing users to develop application code and host front ends from a PC without the need for hardware. MC4U also supports five standard IEC-61131-3 languages running on high-speed virtual PLCS, enabling programmers familiar with this environment to easily develop PLC programs. Full transparency between the PLC and ACSPL+ environment gives users the opportunity to quickly and efficiently develop entire machine control applications using the advantages of both languages.
