High speed connection
The PMC676RCTX offers two 10/100/1000BaseT full-duplex Ethernet ports in a modular PMC form factor, providing system integrators with an easy way to add high-speed Ethernet connectivity to virtually any embedded system. It supports the RJ-45 TX connector; A version of the product also offers a fiber optic SC or LC interface (PMC676RCSC).
Low system overhead
The Ethernet /PCI/PCI-X interface on the PMC676RCTX includes a powerful DMA engine with very deep FIFO buffers (64K bytes) on each port. This ensures continuous full bandwidth operations with minimal PCI overhead.
This feature-rich network interface card provides a suite of host offloading features, including:
Packet filtering based on checksum errors
SNMP and RMON statistical counter hardware
TCP check and unload supports various address filtering modes, such as 16 exact matches (unicast or multicast),
4096-bit hash filter for multicast frames and hybrid unicast and multicast.
Two PMC676RCTX boards can be wired directly by a simple “crossover”. This configuration creates a full-duplex 1000-megabit dedicated data path that provides high bandwidth at a very low cost. More complex dedicated interconnects can be created using hubs or switches. In full duplex mode, both point-to-point and switching hubs eliminate many of the deterministic issues that come with traditional Ethernet solutions. This makes the PMC676RCTX an excellent candidate for high-performance interconnects that require real-time certainty.
Range of options
Software drivers are available for most popular operating systems, including Windows, Linux, LynxOS, VxWorks, and Solaris. These drivers are carefully designed and implemented to integrate into the local LAN protocol stack of the host operating system, allowing the user full control over the Ethernet interface. Solaris OBP and PXE boot options are available, as well as conformal coating options.
