Integrated communication

The new CPU firmware version 2.0, which integrates the PROFINET interface, supports communication with the Profinet IO device that acts as the Profinet IO controller. With the integrated Web server, information can be invoked through the CPU, data can be processed through a standard web browser, and data can be archived from user programs at run time.

Using the established TCP/IP standard, the integrated PROFINET interface can be used for programming or communication with HMI devices and additional controllers. As a PROFINET IO controller, communication with PROFINET IO devices is now supported.

The interface contains a noise-resistant RJ45 connector with automatic cross-over, which supports Ethernet networks with data transfer rates up to 10/100 Mbit/s.

Communication with third party equipment using the integrated PROFINET interface enables seamless integration with equipment produced by other manufacturers. Using the supported native open Ethernet protocol TCP/IP and ISO over TCP, you can connect and communicate with multiple third-party devices.

This communication capability is configured with the standard T-Send/T-Receive specification supported by the STEP 7 Basic integrated engineering system to provide you with a higher level of flexibility in designing your automation solution.

The RS485 and RS232 communication modules are suitable for serial, character-based point-to-point connections. The STEP 7 Basic engineering system already contains the library functions of the USS driver protocol and Modbus RTU master and slave protocols.

Fast fieldbus communication via PROFIBUS – the fieldbus standard

Thanks to the closest connection to the fieldbus standard PROFIBUS – a fast and powerful network – unified communication between the field level and the control level will be possible in the future. This is one of the most important requirements in our field of small automation.

There are two new communication modules (CM) that will be connected to PROFIBUS. As a DP slave, * multi can connect 16 field devices with DP Master CP 1243-5, for example as a decentralized peripheral ET 200 unit. It has the function of CM 1242-5’s DP slave station, so it can be connected to any other DP master station. Easily connect the two modules to the CPU on the left side via the backplane bus.
