ABB SNAT617CHC High voltage frequency conversion regulation board/automation module
Now, with the development of robotics technology, people and robots can carry out tasks together, and this new partnership increases the flexibility of manufacturing companies’ production lines, reducing operating costs, capital costs, labor turnover and waste, while improving product quality, production efficiency and employees. Today’s business models and technological drivers, such as data-driven services, shorter product cycles, the introduction of machine learning, and the need to differentiate between personalized products and brands, are making flexible collaborative robot applications (where people and robots work together) an effective option for manufacturers.
Use robots in collaborative work
Currently, robots used in collaborative applications manage to keep their potential harm to a minimum by limiting their strength to a level suitable for human contact. They typically employ force feedback, low inertia elastic actuators, and collision detection techniques.
Cobots are more compact than conventional robots and often have lightweight frames with soft rounded edges and small points of contraction. They are equipped with sensors that detect when operators enter a collaborative workspace and when they are in contact. In well-defined collaborative work zones, robots within the danger zone can operate at higher speeds if no one is present.
The force and torque (FT) sensor is a key component of the manual mechanism used to guide new tasks. Hand-guided instruction is an advantage in today’s collaborative robot applications because it allows operators to prepare robots for new applications without the knowledge of robot programming.
In order to make a cobot application suitable for the operator, the operating principles also need to be applied to the rest of the system, including the terminal actuators and fastening devices. Some end actuators are dangerous, including those with sharp edges or high temperatures, such as those used in welding applications.
