PM891K01 processor unit – Overview
The PM891K01 is a high-performance controller capable of handling demanding applications.
The PM891K01 is connected to the S800 I/O system via an optical module. It can act as an independent process controller, or as a controller performing local control tasks in a control network.
Two PM891 controllers can work together as a pair of redundant controllers, with one acting as the primary controller for the PM891 and the other as a secondary controller. Backup if the primary controller.
The control network is connected to the PM891 through two built-in IEEE802.3 Ethernet channels.
The PM891 also provides a Communication extension bus (CEX bus) to connect multiple extension modules. These modules provide connectivity suitable for various fieldbuses and I/O systems. In the case of redundant pairs, both PM891 are connected to the same CEX bus, and one of them can control the module.
