UCD224A103 3BHE023681R0103 3BHE023682P201 attracts permanent magnet armature

UCD224A103 As the name suggests, this relay has a high sensitivity to the direction of the current. This time, we will use DC voltage to excite this relay, unlike electromagnetic relays (EMRs) where we can use AC or DC.

Polarized relays use a combination of permanent magnets and electromagnets. The permanent magnet will act as an armature, and the electromagnet will act as a coil to attract the permanent magnet armature.

This is why this type of relay is called a polarized relay, because the polarity will determine the position of the permanent magnet armature.

UCD224A103 We will not use a spring to pull the contact. We just need to apply a reverse current to make the armature move to another position.

If we reduce the current until the electromagnetic force is smaller than the permanent magnet, the armature will return to its original position.

When there is no current, the armature is either on the left or the right, because there is no absolute neutrality in the magnetic field.

7. Latching relay
A latching relay has a latching or delay function to prevent its state from changing immediately after it is powered on. The relay maintains its state for a period of time after it is powered on.

According to this characteristic, latching relays are very effective for limiting power consumption and dissipation.

To achieve this, the UCD224A103 has a permanent magnet inside the latching relay. When a voltage is applied to the coil (energizing the relay), the magnet will hold the contact.

Since it’s a permanent magnet, we don’t need energy to maintain contact.

This mechanism will save some energy because the contact position will remain at its latest position after the voltage is no longer applied to the coil.

Latching relays can be made of single or double coils. This is easier because we are applying a voltage to the second coil instead of applying a reverse current to the first coil.
