ABB distributed control system IMSET01 programmable logic controller
The IMDSI1Digital input module is an interface for bringing 16 vertical process field signals into the INFI 90 open strategic process management system. These digital inputs are used by the control module to monitor and control the process. This note explains the digital input module specifications and operations for the IMDSI12, IMDSI13, IMDSI14, and IMDSI15 modules. It details the procedures required to complete the setup, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and replacement of the module. The functionality of IMDSI12 is equivalent to that of the existing IMDSI02 module, except that IMDSI12 only provides a filter buffeting time of 17 milliseconds. As long as the jumper is set correctly, any IMDSI1 module can directly replace the imdsi02 module. For example, the IMDSI02 module can replace the IMDSI02 module with all jumpers set to 24 VDC and with a 17 ms de-jitter filter. System engineers or technicians using IMDSI1 digital input modules should read and understand this instruction before operating the module.
The input signal path and low isolation capacitance allow protection against fast transient burst disturbances. The threshold detection block circuit tests the input voltage to determine if it is at the appropriate voltage level to indicate the ONor OFF state. The output of this comparator is sent to a read buffer in the control logic block. If an input is activated, it will also cause the corresponding input status LED on the front panel to light up. The control logic block consists of a buffer holding the input and status byte values. The I/O expansion bus interface allows the control module to read these bytes. Input circuit description When the input signal is at the appropriate voltage level, the azener diode conducts (turns on) causing current to flow through the optocoupler. Configurable jumpers (on IMDSI12) or fixed resistors (on IMDSI13, IMDSI14, or IMDSI15) Select open thresholds and input voltages. The optocoupler output causes the comparator output to be low. This will light the corresponding status LED on the front panel of the module to indicate the power input; The I/O expansion bus interface transfers logic 1 to the control module on the I/Oexpander bus. When there is no input signal, no current passes through the optical coupler. The front panel LED is not on, and the DSI transmits logic 0 on the bus.
